Flicka Elise
Hull 420 · Built 1993 · Ohio River
In Flicka Friends
Hull 420 appears in Flicka Friends #24 (Winter 2001) as Soloma, photographed sailing on Galveston Bay with Vickie Parrish. Jerry Ragland bought her in May 2007, and by the Fall 2008 issue she was pictured as Elise flying the Flicka burgee.
In Flicka Friends #52 (Summer 2013) Jerry described the galley refit he and his wife Beth carried out. They pulled the sink and the two-burner stove, cut a template, and had a piece of salvaged Corian fabricated to replace the whole counter top, with the sink under-mounted and the edges rounded and polished. Leaving the stove out — they cook on a stowable one-burner butane unit — freed space for a teak drawer from H & L Marine, and with the counter off they added a second outlet and a battery charger; the brass faucet, a towel rod and new teak trim finished in Danish oil went in once the new top was secured. To match the darker counter, a hardwood compass rose was routed into the cabin table. The whole job took about a month.
