Flicka Silvery Moon
Hull 386 · Built 1989 · San Francisco
In Flicka Friends
The registry records this boat as Silvery Moon, though Flicka Friends knows her only as Hotspur, Flicka #386 — formerly Senior Frog — sailing San Francisco Bay under Eric Jungemann, who found her through California Cruising Yachts in Alameda and wrote up much of his work on her for the newsletter. In #19 (Fall 2000) he described mounting a Furuno 1621 Mark II radar on an Edson mast on the starboard side of the cockpit, on a pivoting base so the whole thing could be dropped in about three minutes for trailering or low bridges. She had come to him without a dodger, and in #30 (Summer 2003) he set out the companionway-only dodger designed and executed by Margaret Fago of Hogin Sails to his requirements: stainless tubing, easy to remove and store for trailering, able to fold forward, and drawn around a sea hood for the forward attachment.
The same issue covers a re-rig after a dozen years on the original factory rig: the upper shrouds were cut and rebuilt around a stainless pivot fitting with Norseman terminals, to a design by Bruce Schwab, so that the mast could be lowered without adding hardware first. A full boat cover by Margaret Fago at Hogin Sails, covering rub rails, bowsprit and rudder with the mast either up or down, appeared in #29 (Spring 2003), and her Trail-Rite trailer — thought to be original to the 1989 boat — in #31 (Fall 2003). She was one of five Flickas at the Angel Island rendezvous over the weekend of 29 April 2005, reported in #34.

More about Silvery Moon
After purchasing the Silvery Moon, I sailed Lake Tahoe for two years. In August of this year I placed her at Alameda Marina in San Fransisco Bay. I’m really new to sailing the bay, so it is a learning experience for sure. The picture provided is in Lake Tahoe. After my membership is approved I can send more recent pictures. I am interested in hearing from other owners in the bay area. I have allot of questions. Thank you for your time.
