Flicka Kiri
Hull 241 · Built 1983 · Des Moines Marina, near Seattle, Washington
In Flicka Friends
Kiri, Pacific Seacraft hull #241, carried the cover credit of Flicka Friends #21 (Spring 2001), her home port then given as Shilshole Bay Marina in Seattle. Gary Kries's photographs in Flicka Friends #27 (Fall 2002) record her spending two to three weeks in Barkley Sound, on the west shore of Vancouver Island, in company with Passages and Cocoa - under full sail there, at anchor off Effingham Island, and with all three boats anchored in a star in Jaques Lagoon, whose entrance is tight enough that most boats will not attempt it.
Tom Davison found the green-hulled Kiri at Cap Sante Marina in Anacortes and wrote about her in Flicka Friends #52 (Summer 2013). Don and Karla Marken had owned her more than twenty years by then, spent largely in the San Juan Islands, the Gulf Islands and Desolation Sound. Three of their fittings-out drew his notice: zippered fabric bags under the v-berth book shelves, a kerosene Wallas stove top and cabin heater vented through the cabin roof by mushroom vent and flexible chimney, and an icebox drain rerouted through a small hand pump to a third spigot at the galley sink instead of into the bilge. She was on the back cover of Flicka Friends #57 (Spring 2014), again at Cap Sante.
